For many patients pursuing fertility treatment, medication costs are one of the most signifi cant fi nancial hurdles. While procedures such as IVF receive a lot of attention, the medications required during treatment can cost several thousand dollars per cycle. Recently, however, new pricing initiatives have begun lowering the cost of some commonly prescribed fertility drugs for patients who pay out of pocket.

At Red Rock Fertility Center, we believe that informed patients are empowered patients. Here’s what you should know about recent changes in prescription drug pricing and how they may affect fertility treatment.

Why Fertility Medications Can Be Expensive

Fertility medications are specialized drugs used to stimulate the ovaries, control ovulation timing, and support successful conception during treatments such as IVF or IUI. Because many insurance plans still don’t cover fertility medications, many patients must pay the full cost themselves.

Medication expenses alone can typically range from $4,000 to $6,000 per IVF cycle, depending on dosage and protocol.

This is why recent changes in prescription pricing have attracted attention within the fertility community.

New Cash-Pay Pricing Through TrumpRx

New Cash-Pay Pricing Through TrumpRx In early 2026, a federal initiative called TrumpRx launched to help lower the cost of certain prescription medications by offering discounted cash prices directly to consumers.

The program includes several commonly used fertility medications manufactured by EMD Serono, including:

  • Gonal-F® – used to stimulate the ovaries
  • Ovidrel® – used as a trigger shot to induce ovulation
  • Cetrotide® – used to prevent premature ovulation

Through the TrumpRx platform, patients paying cash may now see significantly reduced prices compared to traditional retail costs. For example:

  • Gonal-F may be available for about $168 per pen, compared with previous prices near $966.
  • Ovidrel may be available for around $84, down from roughly $251.
  • Cetrotide may drop from about $316 to roughly $22.50 per vial.

These discounts can represent reductions of up to 80% or more for certain medications.

How This Can Impact Fertility Treatment Costs

Medication savings can have a meaningful impact on the overall cost of treatment. According to The White House’s press release, many fertility patients will “stand to save more than $2,000 per cycle of fertility drugs, on average.”

While medication costs are only one component of fertility treatment, lower prices can help make care more accessible for many families.
