Our team at Red Rock Fertility Center is committed to providing personalized service to all our patients. We believe that it’s beneficial for both the staff and patients to develop a personal relationship to have a better experience. That’s why we started this ongoing staff spotlight series. We want you to get to know us better, just as much we want to get to know you throughout your process.
This staff spotlight is on Catherine McDonald. As a Practice Manager at Red Rock Fertility Center, no two days are the same for Catherine. Her responsibilities and tasks vary from planning meetings to reviewing contracts, scheduling the appropriate staff, and so much more to make sure Red Rock is functioning correctly. When Catherine is not in the clinic, you can find her at one of her Pilates classes, enjoying time with her grandchildren, or on the dancing floor cutting a rug.

  • Tell us about a typical day at work for you.

There is no such thing as a typical day as a Practice Manager.  Each day brings unique challenges and the priorities of each day are somewhat unpredictable.  There are meetings, staff scheduling, review of contracts, and credentialing or revision of policy and procedure.  As much planning as you did in your head the morning before you arrive to work, it usually goes out the window in the first hour of your day as time sensitive projects take priority and urgencies shift.  It makes for an interesting day, every day.

  • What’s the most exciting part of your job?

I am privileged to work with a unique and diverse group of individuals each contributing their extraordinary talents and strengths to include embryologists, assisted reproductive technologists, diagnostic coordinators, billing specialists and financial coordinators to name a few.  Additionally, the field of reproductive endocrinology is absolutely fascinating, and so evolving that I learn something new almost every day.

  • Tell us about the relationships you’re able to form with each of your patients. How does your role impact their overall experience at Red Rock Fertility Center?

Improving upon the patient experience is an ongoing and developing endeavor at Red Rock Fertility Center.  We continually strive to improve the patient experience by holding customer service training seminars, sharing ongoing feedback from patients, having staff nominate their peers for Service Star awards, and we read the accolades and praises from our patients to boost morale at staff meetings.  Improving upon the patient experience and identifying areas to improve customer service is an ongoing process at Red Rock Fertility Center.  I am proud to say our staff gives 110% every day!

  • What do you think makes Red Rock Fertility Center a unique place for fertility treatment?

Here at Red Rock Fertility Center, we treat each patient as a whole person, not an infertility diagnosis, customizing a specific plan to treat our patient’s needs and goals.  Our patients receive individualized treatment to include the best professional and clinical care delivered with compassion and empathy.  Dr. Littman and the entire team work with our patients to ensure each patient knows that they are not alone on their journey to build a family.  Our patients benefit from the compassion, expertise, and insights of each and every member of our highly-trained and dedicated team.

  • How is the team at Red Rock Fertility Center unique to the market?

Red Rock Fertility Center has the latest technology and techniques that have been proven to increase the probability of getting pregnant. We have designed our facility tailored to the diagnosis and treatment of fertility and to the specific and individual needs of each of our patients with the most advanced infertility options available, all designed with patient satisfaction, safety, compassion, and convenience in mind.

Now we want to get to know Catherine on a more personal level!

  • What is your favorite food and/or restaurant?

I recently discovered a little gem of a place called Ichabod’s Lounge which serves a delicious chicken parmesan.  There is a piano bar and small dance floor, so there is always entertainment while dining and I can get in a few dances before and after the meal.

  • What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

After a long week and many hours of sitting at a computer, I enjoy a refreshing mind-body Pilates work-out alternating between private and group reformer classes.  I find that Pilates and other mind-body-spirit modalities center and balance for me, making me more aware of myself and what feels good, so I have a great reserve to share those good feelings with others.
If I’m not working, you can find me kicking up my heels on a local dance floor. In Las Vegas, you can find somewhere to dance 7 days a week.  Through dance, I have broadened my social circle and have met a wonderful group of friends who share the love of music and dance.  I support live music and follow several local bands here in town.  My philosophy, “Why walk your way through life when you could DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!”

  • What do you consider as your greatest accomplishment?

I consider my greatest accomplishment to be that of “Mom” and now “Grandma Cat”.  I have always considered it to be an honor and privilege to be a mother, my greatest role in life. Now that my children are grown, I’m am loving the role of Grandma Cat to three adorable grandchildren with another one on the way, due this November. Life with grandchildren is just that, grand!
Another achievement of which I am proud is entering and placing first in a Newcomer’s Ballroom Competition, playing the flute for two seasons in the Las Vegas Symphony and Las Vegas Philharmonic and delivering two sermons at our church.

Now that you know a little more about a very important member of the staff, Catherine, please stay tuned for our next staff spotlight feature. We look forward to sharing more about our team in the coming months!
